Turn the chuck until you hear a loud click. Really powerful and fun to use. The batteries love being recharged. It's lightweight and recharges quickly. This is a replacement for one that was burned up.

And the case is nothing special. I especially like its power and light weight. Has a drill setting and a screw setting. I charged a battery in about 3 hours. It was also easy to get different bits in and out.
