Power is adequate for fresh cut oak rough planks. You will need a vacuum unless you are outdoors. I rigged up a table based on videos that I watched online. I'm building a farm table out of reclaimed lumber. Was amazed at how fast and effective this little Skil planer is
I would recommend this to any one looking for a good planer. Also the damn safety buttons are a total deal breaker. At this point the top surfaces of the joists was very uneven. You do not have to be an NFL linebacker to use this. Without this planer, I had no idea how to solve the problem.
