Works as described and when you turn it off the crap falls off too. It will be a lot cheaper and the box is light enough to carry around while I use it. These are some awesome rods. This thing can't weigh more than 10 lbs and its super portable. I use a short cord into it, and don't over push it, and it does well.

You can try, and I've been successful, but it is very difficult. I was using these, and the 1/8th rods, in a 240 welder. Use 7014 rod for the best results and keep the current down. Looks to be a high quality rod, though I'm a farmer, not a welder. I needed to ensure that the humidity would not affect my work.
