Here is the process I used for doing the drywall. You need a good vacuum and will have to clean the filter OFTEN. The sand paper that is advertised with the machine on amazon. The sanding disks don't clog easily because of the vacuum system. Anyway, used this WEN on 1300 sf of drywall.

Do not push the machine to the ceiling, it makes the work itself. You can't ask a distributor to do more than this. The paint is what makes the texture so difficult to remove. I also bought a WEN handheld which I will be returning. I've been using it hours at a time and absolutely no issues.
