You can also use a vacuum hose to empty it very effectively. With the TACKLIFE, I don't hesitate to even sand thin veneers. The dustport works better connected to a vacuum system. I burnt up and old TACKLIFE, and needed to replace it quick. Sanding upside down and vertically was easy and effective.

I just bought a house and it needed to be redo my back patio. For the price, all things considered, this is a good value. I am a finish carpenter and use my sanders constantly. If I had to choose one I'd take the Makita over this model. Great value vs similar, more expensive belt sanders.

It would be nice if the pads were commonly available. At the top end, it has a rich, powerful voice. It does have a slight orbital notion to it. Wonder if I could buff the mailbox with it. I have to reset the hose every few minutes.

I've had my US built Makita for 20 years. Like it says in the instruction manual - don't push down. Works as it should Works will in my shop. For the money I've never used a better sander. Not much, if they work as well as this little champ.
