I got the planer and put it to work right away. I use it outside as there is a huge outflow of chips. I used it to clean up salvaged/reclaimed wood. The left/right chip ejector is much better than PORTER-CABLE's. It is sturdy and the blade are double sided and sharp.

The fact is that the WEN 6530 was the Power Planers that we ranked at the top. Having said that, there were a handful of other very premium quality Power Planers we wanted to show you here that barely missed first place.

Next up is built by PORTER-CABLE known to be a very reputable tool manufacturer. PORTER-CABLE's Electric Hand Planers are also top quality. It was great to try out the PC60THP. I was very satisfied using this tool!

The model PC60THP Electric Hand Planer by PORTER-CABLE, at $67.99 is a particularly excellent Planer for the money. If you uncertain about our number one selection, I'd consider the PORTER-CABLE PC60THP next. It's a high quality tool at a terrific price.

Don't expect to plane wide boards perfectly. I use it outside as there is a huge outflow of chips. Just quiet and smooth and leaves a glassy finish. The carry case is sturdy and an extra blade is included. This would definitely be worth the price.

This planer cut 1/8 inch swaths with no problem. So other people wouldn't have too much trouble handling it. I have mostly Bosch tools and none of them have failed. I tightened the 6 blade holding bolts a tad. Makes a mess even with the bag on but whatever

Honorable Mentions

If the Power Planers mentioned above fail to do it for you, we have a few other selections that may suit you better. It's true that there are a plenty of great options out there to pick from. With thorough research and testing, the tools above are our favorites. That doesn't mean there aren't several additional great Power Planers.

I do like the portability and ease of use. Works wonderfully and no problem getting it set up. Also purchased extra blades to have on hand. Came with 2 sets of double sided blades and adjustable guide. Prefer this depth adjustment mechanism to others.

This is why I gave this Makita planner 4 rather than 5 stars. I reset the clamping plate using the alignment jig. 30 minutes of planing is around 30 gallons of chips. It's closer to the street than the house! Was amazed at how fast and effective this little Makita planer is

You get what you pay for in these Makita tools. If you only used a crude hand plane you can use this. Yes, this quickly filled, but it was better than nothing. I wish the did include a collection bag, that's one big con. I can't imagine how long the sander would have taken.

You get what you pay for in these Makita tools. Works wonderfully and no problem getting it set up. At this point the top surfaces of the joists was very uneven. Its not so heavy that your arms will ache. I've been ruined by the Makita Planer!
