I got the planer and put it to work right away. I use it outside as there is a huge outflow of chips. I used it to clean up salvaged/reclaimed wood. The left/right chip ejector is much better than PORTER-CABLE's. It is sturdy and the blade are double sided and sharp.

The fact is that the WEN 6530 was the Power Planers that we graded most highly. Nevertheless, there were a range of other really premium Power Planers we wanted to show you here that just barely missed the mark.

PORTER-CABLE is another major manufacturer of Planers. They make the tool that is next on our rundown. PORTER-CABLE's Electric Hand Planers are great as well. I was ready to try out the model PC60THP and I was not disappointed!

The PORTER-CABLE PC60THP Electric Hand Planer, at $67.99 is an especially great Planer for the money. The PORTER-CABLE PC60THP is really a sound option. Of you are not sure about our number one choice, I'd advise to pick this Planer.

The DCP580B by DEWALT and the Bosch PL1632 are worthy of taking a look at also. Both tool manufacturers are famous for their premium quality Planers. Both tools are highly rated as well. The DCP580B received a user rating of 4.3/5 as compared to 4.4/5 star rating received by the Bosch PL1632.

The DCP580B by DEWALT has several features you wont get on competing Electric Hand Planers. One example is Brushless motor which provides power and runtime of 32,000 cuts per minute. The Bosch PL1632 although, is very competitive with Powerful planer with 6.5 Amp rating and 16,500 RPM speed for fast stock removal and smooth finish in soft and hard woods and even Spring-loaded stand elevates tool to protect blade and tool resting spot; special shape allows easy entry in middle of workpiece.

Both of these couple choices make an excellent decision for someone whose in the market for Power Planers

Don't expect to plane wide boards perfectly. I use it outside as there is a huge outflow of chips. Just quiet and smooth and leaves a glassy finish. The carry case is sturdy and an extra blade is included. This would definitely be worth the price.

4. Bosch PL1632 Electric Hand Planer

This planer cut 1/8 inch swaths with no problem. So other people wouldn't have too much trouble handling it. I have mostly Bosch tools and none of them have failed. I tightened the 6 blade holding bolts a tad. Makes a mess even with the bag on but whatever

Honorable Mentions

If you are thinking that the Power Planers mentioned above fail to do it for you, here are several alternative selections that may suit you better. It's true that there are a lot of terrific choices available to pick from. The Planers we graded above are our favorites. This is why I gave this Makita planner 4 rather than 5 stars. I reset the clamping plate using the alignment jig. 30 minutes of planing is around 30 gallons of chips. It's closer to the street than the house! Was amazed at how fast and effective this little Makita planer is

You get what you pay for in these Makita tools. If you only used a crude hand plane you can use this. Yes, this quickly filled, but it was better than nothing. I wish the did include a collection bag, that's one big con. I can't imagine how long the sander would have taken.

Power is adequate for fresh cut oak rough planks. It makes mountains of wood shavings on the smallest projects! Very impressed with this tool, you will be too! The carry case is sturdy and an extra blade is included. Also this is a machine that will make your life easier.

You get what you pay for in these Makita tools. Works wonderfully and no problem getting it set up. At this point the top surfaces of the joists was very uneven. Its not so heavy that your arms will ache. I've been ruined by the Makita Planer!
