This tool is quiet, and devoured every thing I threw at it. This sander has more than enough power for any material from soft wood to hard steel. I'm comparing it to a Jet Sander of the same size that I owned a few years ago. The motor is a monster and gets this thing to speed in no time. Really nice quality and super quiet operation.
